Is your favorite NBA player a Superstar?

The Superstar System

I have put together some prerequisites needed to be considered a superstar in today’s NBA. Superstars need to be relevant, winning and elite in comparison to their peers to separate themselves to a higher level of star. So let’s see who made the list.

Relevant
First thing first in order to be considered a superstar you must be a consistent all star but it has to be recent as well. The first requirement check is to be an all star in three of the last four seasons.
The 18 players who made the cut:
NIkola Jokic

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Joel Embiid

LeBron James

Ben Simmons

Steph Curry

James Harden

Kevin Durant

Khris Middleton

Damian Lillard

Anthony Davis

Kawhi Leonard

Jayson Tatum

Luka Doncic

Chris Paul

Donovan Mitchell

Rudy Gobert

Devin Booker

Winning

Second to be considered a superstar you need to win consistently so making the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years should be the next checkpoint

The 15 players who made the cut:

Nikola Jokic

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Joel Embiid

Ben Simmons

Steph Curry* was in play-in as 8th seed I count it (I’m not a fan of play-in)

James Harden

Kevin Durant

Khris Middleton

Damian Lillard

Kawhi Leonard

Jayson Tatum

Luka Doncic

Chris Paul

Donovan Mitchell

Rudy Gobert

Elite

Last but not least you need to be elite and nothing is more elite than getting named MVP or  making an all nba team multiple times. So the player should either win an MVP in the last 4 seasons or should make at least 2 nba teams in the last 4 years to qualify as a superstar.

Here’s the 12 current superstars in the NBA:

Nikola Jokic

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Joel Embiid

Stephen Curry

James Harden

Kevin Durant

Damian Lillard

Kawhi Leonard

Jayson Tatum

Luka Doncic

Chris Paul

Rudy Gobert

Yes, you read that right, Chris Paul and Rudy Gobert are considered superstars and LeBron James is not, according to the superstar system. Do I believe they are? Absolutely not but this is where we are. The NBA has a lack of good to great bigs and the voters still love Chris Paul over other Point Guards with better scoring stats. As for LeBron he’s got to make the playoffs, like what’s going on out there in Los Angeles?
