The NFL owners and NFLPA agreed to change the schedule format to 3 preseason games and 17  regular season games scheduling format. The previous format had 4 preseason games and 16 game regular season games that we’ve been used to since the 1978 season. I don’t like the idea of having the season having an odd number of games played. So I would like to suggest we move to a 2 preseason game and 18 regular season game schedule with two bye weeks for the player’s health and  safety.

Breakdown of the schedule 

Week 10 Trade deadline

Bye week before Week 10 and Bye week after Week 10

First bye week starts week 5, Second bye week ends week 16

Play 6 division games, play 2 divisions in conference rotate between the 3 in conference, play division from opposite conference rotate every year. 

The Schedule would be adding two extra weeks to the season so it would extend well into February. I suggest starting Week 1 before Labor Day weekend instead of after like it does now. The season ends currently on the first weekend of January which this year is January 8th. So adding the extra week on the backend would push week 20 to January 15, making the playoffs start on the third weekend of January and push the Superbowl from Valentine’s Day weekend to the week after. I’m sure all of the fellas wouldn’t have a problem with that and that would also lead us right into the NFL combine on the NFL calendar as constructed, and who would have a problem with that, more football!
